Organization Overview

Poplar Institute for Film (PIFF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to amplifying diverse voices by supporting the development, promotion, distribution, and screening of independent films and media. We have successfully served over 15 artists across 7 states, contributing to more than 13 projects in various stages of development. Our commitment to nurturing talent and fostering creativity has resulted in selections at prestigious film festivals, including the International Art Film Festival in Birmingham, UK (2022) and the Vienna International Film Awards (2022) for "Where Have You Gone?". We also received an honorable mention for "Finch" and were selected for the Oscar-qualifying St. Louis International Film Festival for "Nova".

OUR APPROACH

Poplar Film Institute specializes in three key areas: Education, Development, and Distribution (EDD).

Our educational initiatives aim to promote media literacy and emphasize the significance of community filmmaking in contemporary society. Through comprehensive programs, we equip aspiring filmmakers with the necessary skills and knowledge to thrive in the industry.

In terms of development, we focus on the three pivotal stages: preproduction, production, and postproduction. Collaborating closely with local filmmakers, we provide support throughout their filmmaking journey, ensuring their projects reach their full potential.

Lastly, our distribution services cater to filmmakers with completed projects, offering assistance in marketing and facilitating submissions to prestigious film festivals. At Poplar Film Institute, we are dedicated to nurturing talent, fostering creativity, and facilitating the success of filmmakers at every stage of their career.
