How Our Production Process Works

Poplar offers full-service production value from start to finish with a professional production team. Poplar Institute for Film is able to offer reasonable rates to nonprofit organizations, government agencies and small businesses. By choosing to work with Poplar Institute, you help support our nonprofit mission. All of our profits are reinvested into important community programs and projects that Poplar Institute take on.

Step 1: Define, Craft, Imagine

Through a series of pre-production meetings, we help shape your project goals, brainstorm ideas, and then write a script based on our meetings.

Step 2: Design, Capture, Shape

Next, Poplar recruits a production team to pull out lights and cameras to record interviews, capture event footage and present your organization in action.

Step 3: Distill, Refine, Share

Poplar's production team finalizes the footage through editing. We add graphics and arrange footage to tell an engaging story. When it's all done, we'll help you get it out into the world for maximum impact and reach.

Script Development Strengthening and clarifying your message with a creative vision. We work closely with you to hone in on your key message for your audience.

Drone Video Poplar teams up with local licensed drone professionals to assist in adding extra value to your video.

Storyboard Treatment/Concept Design Poplar assist with visual ideas to help best capture your message. With our research, we will pitch an outline that not only fuels your story but works to engage your audience.

Motion Graphics/Animation The best way to bring a complicated concept to life. Our team work with you to create a blueprint of how we want to convey your mission visually through graphic animation and titles.

Editing We edit down hours of footage into a strong and coherent story. Clients typically have 2-3 rounds of revisions before we deliver the final cut.

Field Production The Poplar team comes to you! We bring our state of the art gear and mobile crew to homes, schools, parks, kitchens, court rooms, businesses, etc. to shoot wherever the story takes us. Our crew has the technical know-how, the emotional intelligence and creative spark necessary to bring your story to life.

Color Correction and Grading We give our videos a cinematic look by applying color correction and color grades to achieve a consistent and striking final product.

Event Production Using our multi camera or field camera package, we record performances, keynotes, celebrations, workshops, parades, conferences.

Voice Over Recording Poplar uses industry standard microphones to record your script. We direct the voice over artists or clients so that their voice reflects the tone of your message.

Sound Design Layering the sounds we record while shooting your video, sound effects and music we create an auditory landscape which further immerses viewers into your story.

Consulting We offer media consulting on anything from small budget productions, conducting an interview to submitting your work to film festivals.
